I’m Juan, a fullstack engineer with 5+ years of experience engineering scalable web applications and technical documentation. Driven by modern AI-assisted workflows and core web standards, I build with React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Laravel to deliver fast, maintainable software designed for the end user.

I started fiddling with websites back in 2016, unprompted. In late 2020, I committed to self-study, learning the technologies of the moment (JavaScript and React) and spending hours with web development, while sharing my learnings publicly with the dev community. By September 2021, I landed my first gig as an SWE.

I've engineered production-ready applications from internal company platforms to interactive education tools. With a strong background in frontend development, I rapidly expanded into creating and maintaining robust backend systems with PHP, Laravel, and MySQL.

Today, I put heavy emphasis on dev ergonomics, comprehensive documentation, thinking before coding, and care for scalable architecture. Every piece of code requires care and a process. That, to me, is what software engineering is all about.

  1. Frontend Developer

    Atrinium · Apr 2024 – Present

    Sole frontend engineer on Linikit, the management platform for Spain's Kit Digital grant program, where I inherited a legacy React, Next.js and TypeScript codebase and shipped four production modules on top of it — device delivery with in-browser photo capture and carrier integration, voucher-extension signing over SMS, WhatsApp and email, distributors, and settlements with Excel and PDF export.

    For Hermes, a multi-tenant insurance SaaS, designed a config-driven editable table family reused across some seventeen screens and built the cross-tenant announcements module end to end, with a server-enforced state machine, queued dispatch and a GDPR-compliant opt-out flow. Now building its Product Builder catalog layer so product configuration no longer needs a backend ticket.

  2. Mid Senior Developer

    Ingeniust · Sep 2021 – Jan 2024

    Joined as a junior and grew into a mid senior role architecting web applications with React, Next.js, Redux and PHP. Led ADEC Education, a platform teachers across Costa Rica use to author and distribute courses, delivered 28+ production features, cut a persistent bug backlog through targeted refactoring, and set up continuous deployment within an Agile workflow — all while mentoring incoming engineers.

E-Commerce

Azahar

An e-commerce website built for the Venezuelan market. Using a flower shop as a base, I coded everything with Claude Code. The twist on this project is the framework I used to direct Claude: instead of making it with vibes, I sat down and told it to grill me, where every decision was made by me and annotated in Claude's Plan.
